Youth Boxing Coach Verle Robinson Arrested for Sexual Assault
In Middletown Connecticut, Rev. Verle Robinson, 55, was arrested on third-degree sexual assault and impairing the morals of a minor after trying to sexually assault the 13-year-old friend of one of his daughters during a sleepover.
Trying to rape one of his daughter’s friends while she slept in the same house? What a monster!
That night, Robinson came into the room where his daughter’s friend was sleeping alone. He pinned her down, exposed himself to her, and rubbed himself against her shorts. The girl said that Robinson asked her if she ever had sex before and that he wanted her to “stick it in.” She struggled to get Robinson off of her.
The next morning, the girl sent a text message to Robinson’s daughter explaining what happened. (Police have a picture of the text message.) Robinson’s daughter told her aunt about the text message and the aunt spoke to the victim. When the girl returned home, she told her mother what happened and her mother contacted police. (Kudos to the girl for being so brave to tell everyone.)
Robinson denied trying to rape the girl and said she was lying. He also lied to police that he had ever being accused of sexually assaulting someone in the past. In fact, Robinson has a long criminal record in Colorado, including charges for weapons, kidnapping, assaults, robbery and assaults on officers. In 1982, Robinson was accused of a similar sexual assault in Aurora, Colorado.
Robinson works as a boxing instructor at Kramer’s Gym as part of a “Weed and Seed” youth program. The director of the program said he was unaware of Robinson’s arrest or any criminal record . Guess he forgot to do a criminal background check. The director also said that Robinson was away on vacation.
I guess that Robinson will no longer have a job at the gym. I also hope that the judge in this case makes sure this guy is put on the sex offender registry so he no longer has access to kids. Reverend indeed!
