Update on Teacher Christopher Burton: Third-Graders Testify at Hearing

In Tooele, Utah, a well-liked former teacher at East Elementary School, Christopher Burton, 25, was charged with eight counts of first-degree felony aggravated sexual abuse of a child for fondling eight third-graders. He is now undergoing a preliminary hearing to see if his case should go to trial.

All boys who testified said Burton made them sit on his lap while he he put both his hands in their front pants pockets and fondled them. One boy said the abuse occurred when the rest of the students were talking or distracted with classroom activities. Another boy said Burton began touching him after the first day he started school, and that Burton abused him once a week.

Both the prosecutors and defense attorneys have as many as 16 more witnesses to put on the stand. We’ll keep you posted.
