Teacher Stephen Lucas Arrested on Deadly Conduct and Terroristic Threat Charges
In Rio Hondo, Texas, junior high school teacher Stephen Lucas was arrested in August and charged with three counts of deadly conduct, two counts of making terroristic threats, one count of unlawfully carrying of a weapon, and one count of evading arrest with a motor vehicle.
Busy guy, wow.
School board members have told the superintendent and school district’s attorney to begin the termination procedures. The board wants him to be out of contact with students, and will permit him to resign. Currently, Lucas is suspended with pay.
I’m guessing that Lucas is being let go because of some kind of “good behavior clause” in his contract. However, I’m always disturbed when school districts let abusive or trouble-making teachers resign.
I don’t know if a fear of lawsuits or the teacher’s union, but as a parent I would like bad teachers fired, like, immediately.
