Teacher Shawn Trotter has Sex with Students in School Storage Room

dna.jpgIn Stuart, Florida at South Fork High School, a 16-year-old student said teacher Shawn Trotter, 35, coerced her into having sex with him three times in a school storage room. Trotter is facing three charges of sexual intercourse with a minor, and may face a minimum of more than 17 years in prison if he’s convicted .

Seems a possibility since there’s DNA evidence to prove the charges.

Police detectives sent samples of the storage room carpet in for analysis. Tests found Trotter’s seminal fluid mixed with the girl’s DNA and at least one other person’s. Sherrif’s dectectives are still trying to find the other victim.

The girl confided in friends about the encounters with Trotter. She told them she worried that she might become pregnant because he didn’t use a condom one of the times they had sex. The girl’s friends urged her to turn Trotter in to school officials. When she didn’t, one of her friends went to the assistant assistant principal and did. (Kudos to that kid! His or her parents taught her right.)

The assistant principal called police, who were smart enough to tear up the carpet and send it into the lab.

This is the first time I’ve ever seen DNA evidence taken when a kid accuses a teacher. Bet we’ll be seeing more of that in the future.

    It’s good to see that a few things were done right the first time to get this guy - that a young girl was brave enough to speak up, that the principle believed her and made the appropriate report, and that the police took the carpet for evidence.

    And let’s all hope the girl does NOT get pregnant.

    I know Shawn Trotter. I’ll wait until this comes to trial before I convict him. Mike Nifong also said he had DNA evidence against the Duke LaCrosse players and yet charges were dropped.

    I had for a teacher my freshman year of high school in Ill and he coach the scholastic bowl team which I was member of. My freshman and Sophomore year and this really is shocking to me. I original heard this story for my high school history teacher and I could believe and even my friend who had been on the team when he coach was shocked.
