Teacher Rachel Holt Gets 10 Years for Raping 13-Year-Old Student

by Anne-Marie Nichols

rachel_holt.jpgIn Wilmington, Del., Rachel Holt, 35, a sixth-grade science teacher at Claymont Elementary School was sentenced to 10 years in prison for seducing a 13-year-old male student.

Holt had been charged with 28 counts of first-degree rape for having sexual intercourse with the boy 28 times during an intense weeklong affair at her apartment. She was also accused of plying the boy with alcohol and allowing him to drive her car. She was arrested after the boy’s father reported overhearing telephone calls between Holt and his son about the affair.

Holt pleaded guilty to second-degree rape - the the 10-year sentence was the mandatory minimum. Holt showed no remorse in interviews and blamed her victim and his parents for the crime. Holt’s attorney blamed her actions on a fit of depression, years of domestic abuse by her former husband, and an Internet date that did not go well.

Whatever.

I totally agree with the boy’s uncle who said that Holt had tarnished the reputation of teachers, violated his nephew’s trust, and took his innocence away. However, you wonder if Holt got the maxium sentence because she was unattractive compared to some of the blond hotties that have been caught seducing their students lately.

Yeah our society is oreinted toward external apperances….good point made here….if Rachel looked like Debra Lefa or Pamela Rogers Turner or the Laternaou chic she most likely would have gotten a lighter sentance due to the sexual attraction factor…..but then again….Laternou got like 6 or 8 years that she fully served….and Pamela is serving 10 full years as we speak….so ther’s 2 schools of thought on that. Pamela and Laterou are hot blond little numbers….and they were required to pay their due’s….so….I think it depends on the judge and their ability to deductively and logicaly reason on the matter free from the volitile, contraversial emotions surrounding such cases.
