Teacher Jonathan Hamilton Arrested for Public Sexual Activity

PH02924J.jpgIn Aztec, New Mexico, Koogler Middle School’s new choir teacher Jonathan Hamilton, 33, was arrested during a police sting that targeted illegal public sexual activity at a city park. He allegedly exposed himself to a plainclothes officer. Whoops!

He was one of 15 arrested in the sting operation that targeted public male (i.e. gay) sexual encounters. Several of the men busted included prominent community members, a pastor, a business owner and a part-time college instructor.

Hamilton was placed on paid administrative leave after only working for the school district for six days. The district is investigating the circumstances surrounding his arrest and will decide on subsequent action.

While Hamilton didn’t abuse any kids, I offer this story up as a cautionary tale. If you want to have anonymous gay sex, that’s your business. But do it at your house or at a hotel, not at a park in the afternoon in public. Cops love to target gays getting it on in the bushes. (Guess they don’t have something better to do in Aztec.) And most people find it pretty gross to find your used condoms when they’re picnicking with their families.

No matter how wonderful the thrill of public sex, if you get caught, you can lose your job - especially if you work with kids. Be smart and conduct your sex life in private. Thanks.
