Teacher Alison Mosbeck Arrested for Having Sex with 14-Year-Old Student

by Anne-Marie Nichols

Alison_Mosbeck.jpgIn Houston, Texas, history teacher Alison Mosbeck, 33, was charged with the sexual abuse of a child for having an intimate relationship with a 14-year-old male student.

Mosbeck is free on $80,000 bail and has been ordered not to have contact with children 17 and younger. She faces punishment ranging from probation to 20 years in prison if convicted. I am guessing since she is young, attractive and a strawberry blond, she’ll get a fairly light light conviction like Carrie McCandless even though the boy is pretty young.

I would bet the farm that she will get probation, lose her teaching license, get on the sex offender roles, and possibly serve a couple of months in jail - if that.

The relationship started back in November 2006 when Mosbeck took the boy to a Pioneer Days festival. According to court documents, Mosbeck performed a sex act on him in the car on the way home. (Use your imagination, folks.) Another time she performed a sex act on the boy in the cell phone lot near Intercontinental Airport. The two were also having sex in motels. Busy, wasn’t she?

School district officials said Mosbeck was placed on administrative leave as soon as police started their investigation. The mother of two has since resigned.

However, parents were not informed about the matter since the student who Mosbeck was involved with is no longer a student at the middle school.

So? I bet you anything that decision will backfire as parents and students read about the teacher in the papers and see reports on TV. Honestly, how hard is it to write up a short note and include contact information if the parents have questions or need to find out how to talk to their kids about this matter?

It is all about communication and keeping parents informed. Instead, it looks like the district is trying to hide something. What gives?
