Sexual Abuse Charges Dropped Against Coach Sebastian Moore
Occasionally I get accused of not reporting postive outcomes about teachers who have been cleared of abuse charges. So here’s one for the record…
Sexual abuse charges against Sebastian Moore, a coach and physical education teacher with Russell County Middle School in Ohio, were dismissed as the judged ordered a directed verdict for acquittal. Moore had been indicted on a charge of first-degree sexual abuse alleging he inappropriately touched a 17-year-old special education student on school property.
The judge felt that if the situation been handled properly, Moore probably would not have been indicted. He said he was dismissing the sexual abuse charges because he believe there was not enough evidence to convict Moore.
The defense claimed the girl’s testimony didn’t ring true and accused her of lying.
However, three teachers - Jessie Horne, Carol Gaddy and Agnes Kariuki - were found guilty last year of failure to the abuse. Yet, former Russell Middle School Principal Larry Screws was found not guilty in district court of the same charge.
While Moore is looking to return back to work and coaching the football team, the victim’s mother, Sandy Murray, is upset over the outcome. She thinks it will discourage other girls from reporting being sexually abused by their teachers.

First, I just wanted to correct a mistake I noticed on your blog. Russell County Middle School is located in Alabama, Phenix City to be exact. Second, I’d like to mention that Coach Moore is in trouble once again for inappropiate discussions of sex with a female student.
