Let’s Give Thanks for All the GOOD Teachers

by

j0384878.jpgI get a lot of grief here at Teacher Smackdown for never writing about all the good teachers out there. Well, that’s what your local press is for folks. Me, I’m just into exposing the bad ones and warning you how to protect your kids from these evil doers.

Since it’s Thanksgiving day, I’d like for all my readers to take a moment, and think about all the good teachers, instructors and coaches you knew during your school years (college, too!)

The ones who supported you and told you that you were smart. The ones that inspired you and exposed you to great books and ideas. The ones who got you started on your career path or helped you through a difficult time in your life. The ones who gave you a second chance when you screwed up. The ones who made you laugh.

Thank you wonderful teachers for all your hard work, love and dedication. We appreciate and give thanks for you today!

(Feel free to share below about your favorite teacher. And Happy Thanksgiving!)

    Excellent…..finaly a window to reedeem myself …..at least somewhat…..thanks Annie-baby…..
Except for my fruit-cake 5th grade teacher who opted to actualy have me commited ( yep, seriously folks, she didn’t recognize an Einstein when she saw one, where one person sees brilliance another sees eccentricity), I have actualy had the privledge of some of the best damn teachers any student could ask for from elementary on through to high school.
I’d been a juvenile delenquent and a felon if it weren’t for my fantastic high school teachers keeping me focused and nurturing my self-esteem.
To this day none of them have any idea how they saved my ass from certain self-destruction ( although, I’d like to change that someday, contact them and thank them ) so I’d like to take this opp. and alighn myself (for once ) with Ann’s message to all genuine and large hearted teachers out there and wish you all a great holiday and new year. And know that I greatly admire what you all do.
Please don’t take my radical blog comments here seriously….love you guys….peace.

It is very important to recognize that many good teachers are doing the hard and sometimes thankless work that is so important to our society.

I want to see a great emphasis on creating a stronger Teacher Community and recognizing the outstanding work that so many are doing.

Mr.O, the teacher that i had in 6th grade that just kept on giving. He never rested until all of his grades were done. Stayed up all night making fun assignments for us. And still during the school day, constantly made us laugh. And was all-together, AWESOME. Thank you Mr. O!
