Five-Year-Old Leaves Stoneway Private School Daycare and Get Hits by Truck
This is every working parent’s nightmare. In Mesquite, Texas, Tamara Roberts went to pick up her son, Denarius. When she arrived at Stoneway Private School daycare, she learned that the child was not there and no one knew where the five-year-old was.
Teachers told her that Denarius disappeared after he got into a fight with another student and ran out of the classroom.
Everyone assumed that he was hiding in the daycare building, when in fact he was wandering around town. Denarius was half a mile from school when he walked into traffic and was hit by a truck. The youngster has a concussion and cuts and bruises to his head, arm and shoulders and is recovering at the hospital.
His mom is thankful that it wasn’t worse, but is very upset that she and police weren’t contacted went Denarius went missing. Roberts has hired a lawyer and Child Protective Services is investigating the school.
The school blames the boy and says he has a history of behavioral issues. Still, no matter how naughty this child is, it doesn’t mean the school isn’t responsible for keeping him safe and in the building.

This was absolutely crazy! I live in the area, and I feel that the mom sure held it together, because I personally may have been going to jail that day. The way that this day care tried to place blame on everything and everyone else is completely ridiculous!! I don’t care how many disciplinary problems a kid has, that is no excuse not to try to keep him safe and protected!

I know this daycare and my son has been to this daycare for over a year. I love the owner and she is a genuine women. I can say that this was an unfortunate incident and I do put some blame on the daycare. But they do have their doors locked and you must have a code in order to get into the building. I enjoyed the daycare very much. Loving staff, Owner is very personnal with the children. My son hated to leave the place. I would send my son back to the daycare with no worries.

I also know from personal experience of the day care it’s not ran like a daycare should be. The doors for someone coming from the outside needs a code when coming into the building. However, when leaving you just push the door and there you are free to go. I also know the teachers have more children in their classes than they should. Which makes it hard for a teacher to control 8 or more children on their own with no help. You turn your back to help this child and another child is fighting. If they really investigate that school and not letting them know when they are coming. I’m sure it would be written up on alot of things if not closed down.

I completely agree with the first person who replyed to this story. I once went to this daycare with my brothers and sister when we were younger and it was complete hell there. We were not to talk when we arrived there in the morning because the teacher there was too busy reading her stupid magazine. And in the afternoon after regular school, we would have to take naps whether your in first grade or sixth. And this wasnt the first case of kids running off from the daycare. Kids have been running away from the teachers and the owner for as long as I remember. It just so happens that this child got hit by a car. I feel so bad for this mother. I’m now 19 and i would never take my kids to a daycare after what I’ve seen what they do. It’s one thing to hire a family friend you’ve known for a while or the next door neighbor’s teenage daughter to watch your kids. But its another to put your childs life in the hands of a daycare center where most of the adults smoke and leave the children unattended to go smoke outside. And like the first person to reply to this story said, there NO excuse for losing track of a child. And you don’t blame others for your mistake. And to the 2nd person to reply, i don’t think you realize this place MIGHT be ok for a toddler, where they’re in a crib or doing something where they don’t need to leave the room; but its definatley not ok when your kids are 10, 12, and even 13 years old and there are place nearby like Wal-Mart, McDonalds, or 7/11 where they are easily able to just hop the fence and leave. So if you would like anymore information about this daycare center, PLEASE Email me at arabpimpness@hotmail.com
