  • Softball Coach Jodi Reeder Facing Felony Charges with Fourth DUI

    Tuesday, September 18th, 2007

Jodi_Reeder.jpgIn Omaha, Nebraska, head varsity softball coach Jodi Reeder, 29, is facing felony charges for her fourth drunken-driving arrest. Reeder was stopped by police because she was driving the wrong way on a one-way street in downtown Omaha. Her blood alcohol level was 0.189 percent, more than twice the legal limit for drunken driving.

Reeder is a PE teacher at Omaha’s Central High School. She has not been at work since her arrest.

According to court records, Reeder’s was arrested twice in 2003 and once in 1998 for DUI. She was charged with a misdemeanor in all three cases. However, now that Reeder has a fourth DUI, she may be charged with a felony. A person with a felony conviction can’t hold a teaching license in Nebraska.

She’s free on $15,000 bond. If convicted, Reeder could serve one to 20 years in jail and pay up to a $25,000 fine.

Daycare Worker Vicki Chiles Charged with Murdering Two-Year-Old Joshua Minton

    Wednesday, May 30th, 2007

vicki_chiles.jpgIn Tulsa, Oklahoma home daycare worker, Vicki Chiles, 42, was charged and arraigned on a felony child abuse and murder charges for abusing an eight-year-old boy in her care and killing two-year-old Joshua Minton.

Chiles was under child abuse investigation for hitting the older boy with a fly swatter 10 and 12 times while chasing him around the room. joshua_minton.jpgThe Oklahoma Department of Human Services was on their way to shut down the home daycare facility when workers found Joshua with his mouth taped shut. Blood and vomit were found on the floor near the boy.

Chiles told police she bound his hands and taped over his mouth with masking tape because he wouldn’t be quiet during nap time. Joshua lost consciousness and later died at the hospital.

Oklahoma’s Department of Human Services is getting a lot of grief - deservedly so - that if they had followed up on the fly swatting complaint quicker, Joshua wouldn’t be dead. A day late, and one beautiful little boy lost to us all.
