Teacher Holly Anna Hatcher Charged with Statutory Rape of Male Student

Tuesday, October 30th, 2007

holly_anna_hatcher.jpgIn Tennessee, Gallatin High School teacher Holly Hatcher, 25, was charged with statutory rape by an authority figure. She is accused of having sex with a 17-year-old male student at her home in Nashville.

Hatcher admitted having sex with the teenager on six occasions in the last two months. Police said the teenager drove to her home for the sexual encounters. One time, Hatcher and the student went to the Nashville Zoo, and returned to Hatcher’s home for some “hot monkey love.” (Sorry, I couldn’t help the zoo reference.)

Another time the student told his parents that he was at work, but he was with Hatcher. Another time the boy told police he and Hatcher carved pumpkins and then they had sex.

Teacher Andrew Martin Arrested for Having a Concealed Firearm on School Grounds

Thursday, August 30th, 2007

johnny_cash_gun.jpgIn Alabama, Rehobeth Middle School teacher Andrew Martin, 47, was arrested for possession of a concealed firearm without a permit for having a gun in his car.

Martin didn’t plan to shoot up the school. Instead, he was just stupid enough to leave his loaded weapon in his unlocked car for anyone passing by - including students - to take. (A school resource officer spotted the weapon through an open window in Martin’s vehicle.)

Doh!

If found guilty, Martin could get six months in jail and a $500 fine. He’s already been suspended for three days without pay from his job.

If I was the judge, I’d sentence him to community service, a $500 fine, and 24 hours of listening to Johnny Cash’s “Don’t Take Your Guns to Town.”

Teacher Charlene Schmitz Arrested for Rape and Sodomy of 14-Year-Old Student

Monday, July 9th, 2007

charlene_schmitz.jpgIn Alabama, Leroy High School teacher Charlene Schmitz, 54, was arrested and charged with second degree rape and second degree sodomy of one of her 14-year-old male students.

The sheriff’s department was contacted by the boy’s parent who discovered sexually explicit e-mails sent by Schmitz on the child’s computer. The student’s and Schmitz’s computers and cell phones were confiscated by deputies as evidence.

Not only is the 40-year age difference shocking, but Schmitz has two children around the same age as her victim. Frankly, I’m a bit grossed out over the whole thing.
