Thursday, May 3rd, 2007

photographer_shackled.gifTeacher Andrew Joseph Barnes, 26, an English teacher and track coach pleaded guilty to one felony count of using a minor for a prohibited act and two misdemeanor counts of indecent exposure.

The charges involved three 17-year-old female students from South Hills High School in West Covina, California.

Barnes was sentenced two-year state prison term and ordered to register as a sex offender. The felony charge involved using a minor in a photograph, while the misdemeanor charges involved photos that were found on his computer.

What always surprises me is that these guys don’t think they’ll get caught. For goodness sake, there’s hard evidence - photographs - on your computer. Duh!

Update on Copper Mountain Day Care Pics and Sentencing of Teacher Carrie McCandless

Wednesday, April 25th, 2007

Police declined to file charges against two Copper Mountain ski area daycare workers after they determined that child abuse involving sexually explicit photographs were unfounded. The photographs weren’t sexually suggestive or taken for sexual gratification.

The workers at the Pumpkin Patch Day Care Center took photos of a naked infant’s bottom, another baby flipping the bird, and a baby pretending to smoke a cigarette.

Bottom line - acting stupid does not amount to criminal behavior.

Teacher Betty Cox Put on Arkansas Child Abuse List for Bullying Students

Wednesday, April 25th, 2007

angry_teacher.gifBerryville Elementary School teacher Betty Cox was put on the Arkansas Child Maltreatment Central Registry earlier this month for bullying students in her care. People are placed on the list if investigators find evidence of verbal or physical abuse.

The alleged abuse involved student Jerry Lou Schoe, 12. The boy’s father, Richard Schoe claims Cox berated his son’s intelligence, wouldn’t provide a book he needed for an assignment, and put him in a seat away from other students for six days in a row. Schoe claims his son considered committing suicide over these incidents, and they now homeschool their son.

The Schoes weren’t the only parents who had problems with Cox. Christi Armer said Cox constantly yelled at her 13-year-old son and once poked him in the chest. Another parent, Jo Butler, said her 13-year-old daughter was afraid to attend Cox’s class.

Matthew Gould Gets 20 Years for Sexually Abusing 19 Boys

Monday, April 23rd, 2007

Matt_Gould.jpgIn Salem, Oregon, teacher Matthew Gould, 45, was sentenced to 20 years in prison for 14 counts of first-degree sex abuse.

Over the years he molested 19 boys at Pratum Elementary School in Silverton. These are some of the more perverted things Gould did to get close to the boys:

  • Gould staged games of naked dodge ball
  • He showed boys how to masturbate
  • He held naked hot tub parties for kids
  • Besides the 19 boys, police found out about 17 more victims. No charges were filed because they took place in another county or the statute of limitations had run out.

Police estimate there could be many more victims. I’m guessing we don’t know the half of it.

Teacher Akela Dillon Slaps a Black Student for Dating a White One

    Thursday, April 19th, 2007

Akela_Dillon.jpgHere’s a story about a teacher literally putting the smackdown on a student. In Naperville, Illinois, at Neuqua Valley High School, teacher Akela Dillion, 26, was put on administrative leave following allegations that she slapped a student.

Tiffany Stephens, whose son was smacked by Dillon, said she received a call from school administrators that her son struck Dillion. However, after talking with her son and reviewing a video tape of the incident, it was obvious that Dillion attacked the boy.

Stephens said her son told her he was standing at a row of lockers when Dillion approached him. Her son, who is black, said the teacher made derogatory remarks about him dating a white girl. Then she swung at the student twice, missing him the first time and hitting him the second time. The Naperville Police Department is investigating the incident and battery charges are pending.
