Carrie McCandless Gets 45 Days for Teacher-Student Affair

by Anne-Marie Nichols

McCandless_07.jpgUPDATE: While Carrie McCandless must register as a sex offender for her sexual liaison with then 17-year-old student, Tommy Clay, she’s only getting 45 days in prison and five years probation. She also has to register as a sex offender for 10 years. McCandless got these charges in exchange for the plea that a charge of sexual assault on a child by a person in position of trust was dismissed.

She has a two-year deferred sentence for tampering with evidence in exchange for the plea, and a charge of violating the conditions of her bail was dismissed. McCandless also has a four-year deferred sentence of contributing to the deliquency of a minor (a misdemeanor). This means that if she stays out of trouble, the charge will be dismissed.

Why did she get off so lightly? Because she’s young, pretty, blond and a woman. Only men or plain or ugly women get the book thrown at them. (Unless you take a sexual offender treatment program and only serve six months of your 10 year sentence, that is.)

While, I was amused that the judge berated McCandless for acting like a love sick teenager, I was disturbed when I read that her version of what happened. She claimed that on the camping trip she chaperoned, she was sleeping on the floor when she was awakened by Tommy fondling her from behind - that he was the aggressor not she.

And if bringing a bottle of booze and sharing it with the kids you’re supposed to be watching and writing love notes to the kid you’re doing the nasty with isn’t grooming your victim, I don’t know what is it.

I blogged about the need to change the requirements for sex offender registration. Even with what I thought needed to change, this woman should be registered. What if she changes her name and tries to teach in another state or something?

Oh for crying out loud….I just love it when women try to second guess what its like to have the sexual impulses of a man. I don’t know weather to laugh out loud or shake my head in disgust. What the hell? Why do fools enter where angels fear to tread?
Do you not think its possible that this young man was so damn horny he could hardly contain himself? So he did indeed go after this hot little blond number of a teacher? Instigating a sexual romp that got her in trouble because she reasoned that “hey, he’s big and manly for his age, got a penis the size of Florida, and is irresistably horny for my hot ass, and has the youthful ability to screw me silly, maybe just this once”….it happens all the time folks….get used to it….and stop being stupid and nieive….makes you look dumber than you already are…..do you really think that this young man was somehow harmed by this?…..good God. He had the fullfill-his sexual-fantasies time of his life….and she’s doing time for it….so stop bitching and complaining with inane articles like this one….INJUSTICE has been served….oh wait…articles like this sell and inspire compulsive hype and hysteria due to the titilation of a male dominated society ignorant of female sexuality….oh I’m sorry….carry on then…..morons.
