Carrie McCandless and David Mundy Sr. and Jr. Turn Brighton Charter High School into a Den of Iniquity
At Brighton Charter High School, all hell has been breaking loose. Teachers have been boozing it up - and molesting - students.
Former teacher Carrie McCandless, 29, was arrested last year and is facing felony charges of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The Brighton Charter High School teacher - and wife of the principal - provided alcohol to students and engaged one of them in a sexual relationship during a late-October school field trip to Estes Park.
In turn, David Mundy Sr. resigned his position from the Brighton charter school board. He was charged with failing to report child-abuse allegations and tampering with a witness in connection with this case.
You wonder how far the apple falls from the tree, because his son David Mundy Jr., a Brighton Charter School substitute teacher, was sentenced to 60 days in jail for kissing and fondling three teenage girls. On Dec. 31, 2005, Mundy Jr. threw a party at his home for three teenage girls he knew from his job at the high school.
He performed body shots with the teens, pouring alcohol into their navels and sucking it out. One of the victims told investigators they felt weird but they went along with it since they were drinking, too.
Mundy kissed and fondled one girl on a couch and kissed and attempted to fondle a second girl in a bedroom. One girl jumped from a second-story balcony to flee his advances.
Mundy Jr., 31, a father of young daughters, was sentenced to 10 years of probation and three years of therapy. He must also register as a sex offender.
